I've been doing photography for ages... but pretty seriously for the past 7 or 8 years. My passion is landscapes, urban, night photography and light painting.
This picture was taken of my by Tom Hide. I chose this as my deviantID and avatar because for me this is photographic paradise. Being out on a rocky outcrop at dawn with the ocean all around you and moody dramatic storm clouds... It just doesn't get any better than this!

Just checking out your 'tools of the trade', I'm also a D700 user and am on the look out for that same 17-35mm 2.8. Pretty hard to get it seems, I am trying for a 2nd hand one at a good price.
