This photograph is taken at night. The rocks are illuminated with a special light..... This technique is called "Landscape Light Painting".

I was a lovely evening... clouds were perfect for night photography... surf was pounding below on the rocks. Thankfully I stayed high and dry on this outing.

If you would like to learn more about how to do this type of photography, you may be interested in my eBook on Night Photography and Landscape Lightpainting. More info can be found here [link]

Very nice photo I was wondering what kind of light you used to paint this whole scene with? The light seems to be balanced extremely well and no spot gets blown out and they're no signs of you or the light moving through the air.

Hi Clashcity

I use a high powered flouro light.... which is daylight balanced and extremely even.

It is held in a black enclosure so that it is invisible from the camera.

It's a great compostion and photo! Light painting looks like an interesting technique, too. One thing I noticed though is, that the part with clouds seems to have more ISO noise than the rest... it somehow distracts me from the picture a tiny bit.
